Colonel Sandra V. Richardson
Senior Military Assistant to the Director of Defense Accounting Service, United States Army, Alexandria, Virginia
Colonel Sandra V. Richardson was born in Beatrice, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Tuskegee University and a Masters of Accountancy from the University of Alabama. In 1978, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Finance Corps.
Colonel Richardson's most recent assignment was the Military Assistant for the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller), Washington, D.C.
Colonel Richardson's military education includes completion of the Finance Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Joint Professional Military Education Course, Professional Military Comptroller School, United States Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College.
Colonel Richardson has held a variety of command and staff positions to include: Commander, 176th Finance Battalion, Yongsan, Korea; Commander, 45th Finance Support Unit, and Deputy Finance and Accounting Officer, Kaiserslautern, Germany; Central Accounting Officer, Second Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; Training/Executive Officer and Chief, Military Pay Branch, United States Army Military Police School and Training Center, Fort McClellan, Alabama; and Commander, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Orlando, Florida.
Her key staff positions included: Staff Finance Officer and Assistant Executive Officer, U. S. Army Finance and Accounting Center, Indianapolis, Indiana; Program/Budget Officer, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller); Chief, Financial Management, Office of the Comptroller and The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Colonel Richardson's awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Army Staff and Joint Staff Identification Badges. She was also awarded the distinguished "Towson Medallion" for meritorious contributions to the Finance Corps.
