Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence W. McRae, Jr.

LTC Lawrence W. McRae, Jr. obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Tuskegee Institute and a Masters Degree from Webster University in Procurement Acquisition Management. LTC McRae is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, the Air Command and Staff College, the Advance and Executive Program Managers Course, and the Air Defense Artillery Basic/Advance Course. LTC McRae initially enlisted in the Army National Guard while a student at Tuskegee Institute.
After completion of Basic and Advance Individual Training, he served four years with the 214th and 217th Military Police Company of the 231st Military Police Battalion, Prattville, Alabama. He returned to active duty upon graduation in 1984 as an Air Defense Artilleryman and has held various assignments at the Divisional level from Vulcan Platoon Leader, Brigade Air Defense Officer, Battery Executive Officer and Assistant S3 with 2d Battalion, 67th Air Defense Regiment, 1st Infantry Division; to Battalion S4 and Chaparral Battery Commander for the 3d Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 3d Armored Division.
LTC McRae entered the Army Acquisition Corps in 1992 and has held several assignments to include the Operational Evaluator for the Forward Area Air Defense System with the Operational Evaluation Command in Alexandria, Virginia, and as the Avenger Fielding/Logistics Officer and Assistant Product Manager for the Stinger Missile System, Stinger Product Office, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. He also served as the Military Deputy for the Weapons Directorate, Space and Missile Defense Command, the Executive Officer for the Chief Scientist of the Missile Defense Agency, and as the Officer in charge of the Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications Site Activation Plan for the Ballistic Missile Defense System.
LTC McRae's military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Airborne Badge and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Badge.
He is married to the former Alphadella Shelene Nelson of Sanford, North Carolina and they have two sons and a daughter, Brandon, Kendrick, and Alicia.
