Tanya Steele
Ocala, Florida

Tanya Marie Steele is the great-granddaughter of Bishop and Mary Montgomery and  granddaughter of Oneida O. Montgomery.  She is the Daughter of Frances Montgomery Steele and Terry L. Steele, Sr.  She was born in Landsthul, Germany and as an "army brat" lived in K-Town and Berlin, Germany as well as other bases in the United States.
 
Tanya graduated from Florida A & M University in 1997 with a Degree in Theatre and minor in Social Work.  After leaving college she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she volunteered with AmeriCorps* VISTA as an Event Coordinator for City Year.  There she directed and managed major events with audiences of 1000 or more.  A few years later she returned to Florida to become a counselor for Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc.  For two years she lived in the wilderness and helped troubled girls turn their lives around.  EYA is a non-profit organization started by Jack and Ruth Eckerd in 1968 of Eckerd Drug Stores.  EYA is one of the largest providers of child services in the State of Florida and is located in 8 states. 
 
Currently, Tanya works as the Director of Hi-Five Pasco/Hernando/and Marion Counties in Florida for EYA.  Hi-Five is a violence prevention program for elementary school students.  Tanya manages three state contracts, 10 staff across three counties and 7 schools, and has three advisory boards.  She recently graduated in the second EYA Leadership Class.  She is a member of Emerging Leaders of Ocala, Florida and the Florida A & M National Alumni Chapter.
 
When she's not working, Tanya lives in Ocala, Fl where she loves to spend time with her fiancé Ramon Y. Clark, read, watch movies, bike ride, and talk on the phone to her family.
